Growth is the evidence of life. We are constantly challenged to change, learn and grow. The inquisitiveness in an infant is an evidence to this nature. Watching the kids are always refreshing because, the active curiosity and learning infuses so much life into them. The urge to know, conquers the fear of the unknown, and because kids do not have ego, they do not care about the failures.
As we grow, we start to lose these traits. And when we get to the middle ages, some of us suddenly start to believe that everything around us will remain constant and we can continue the rest of the life with whatever we already know or have experience of.
Yes, some of the people in their early 40s think that they can spend their life comfortably with the growth they have attained until this far. It is true that a 40-year-old adult cannot have the same level of inquisitiveness as an infant. However, not exploring what is required for future living and not learning them is not an option. Stagnation will only make us less competent to adapt ourselves to the changes – society, environment, technology, legislation and so on.
It is therefore imperative to dedicate sometime in our busy schedule to continue learning to become a better person.
We stop growing the day we stop learning. This learning is a continuous process. At a broad level it be divided into four major stages, as below.
The first stage is to be aware of our self – strengths, aspirations, inhibitions and weakness. To do a fruitful self-assessment, it is important to keep ourselves updated with the changes happening around us and to evaluate our preparedness to face the challenges. This first stage is the most difficult stage, as it requires a lot of motivation and courage. The subsequent steps are conscious efforts to learn and perfect the skill, identified as gaps in the first stage.
Keep coming back to this space. We will be updating this space with various tools – self-assessment questionnaires, instructions manual, microlearning presentations to help you in this process.
Greetings. You have taken the first step to become a better person.
